HOLY KEENA! Saints star is September’s main man.

Aidan Keena is the SSE Airtricity/Soccer Writers Ireland Player of the Month for September, reflecting a stellar month personally as his St Patrick’s Athletic side leapt into the title race.
His four goals throughout the month, against Shamrock Rovers, a brace against Dundalk and the winner against Sligo, were crucial for the Saints to keep within touching distance of leaders Shamrock Rovers.

This is the fourth time for the 27-year-old to land the prestigious accolade; previously claiming it twice during his spell at Sligo Rovers in 2022, as well as the first month of 2025 in Saints colours.
Keena finished ahead of fellow nominees Dawson Devoy of Bohemians and Derry City’s Adam O’Reilly in the ballot of football writers.
“It's a nice achievement,” admitted the Mullingar native. “After all the hard work this season, it’s good to be voted the best player for the month.
“We’re where we want to be at this stage of the season. Shamrock Rovers have picked up again recently but, for us, three points against Shelbourne on Friday is all we're focussing on at the minute.”

Saints are six points adrift of the Hoops but with a game in hand. With European qualification secured, their priority is ensuring the final game on October 30 at home to Bohemians, whom they’re level with on 59 points, is relevant for the title race.
“That's probably the best case scenario at this stage but really we must look after Friday first to make that possible,” he added.
