​The current executive committee, as elected at the 2024 AGM, is: John Fallon (President), Marie Crowe (Vice President), Ray Scott (Secretary), Paul Fennessy (Treasurer), Adrian Eames (Women's Football Officer), Gavin Cummiskey (International Affairs Officer), Paul O Hehir (Domestic Affairs Officer) and Noel Spillane (Press Officer).

Vice President

A sports journalist for over thirty years, Ray has been commentating on Football throughout that period. As soccer correspondent for WLRFM in Waterford, he has followed the trials and tribulations of his home club as well as reporting on Ireland senior games and has been to the World Cup as well as International games. He contributes to radio programmes in Ireland, UK and US and was the voice of RTE's The Soccer Show. He was elected to the Secretary role in 2024. 

​John has been the Irish Examiner's football correspondent since mid-2021, covering all aspects including the senior men’s and women’s team, national league and Irish players based abroad. Prior to this, he spent 25 years freelancing for all national media titles, with a particular emphasis on FAI matters and as the sole reporter travelling with the women’s and Under-21 teams. A member since 2005, he spent six years as Treasurer before being elected SWI Vice-President in 2022. He became the Association's 33rd President in 2024

A former sports journalist with the Sunday Independent, Marie is now a familiar face to listeners on RTE 2FM as the host of Game On. She also hosts RTE Radio 1's Sunday Sport and can be seen presenting sports bulletins on RTE News and as anchor on coverage of GAA and soccer on RTE.  A member of SWI since 2010, Marie assumed the role of Women's Football Officer

in September 2022.

Women's Football Officer

INTERNATIONAL AFFAIRS OFFICER 

TREASURER

Adrian hails from Sligo and now with RTE, he has previously worked for Mid West Radio, North West Radio (now Ocean FM) and FM 104. A producer, broadcaster and commentator,

Adrian's first World Cup was South Africa in 2010 and he has worked on every World Cup since. He has covered Olympic Games in Beijing, London, Rio and Paris.  

Gavin is the soccer correspondent for the Irish Times, having previously reported on rugby for the newspaper since 2003. Gavin covers the Ireland national football teams, FAI and League of Ireland. He joined Soccer Writers Ireland in 2022 and has served as International Affairs Officer since then.

Paul has worked as a staff writer for

The 42 (Journal Media) since May 2011, having previously edited The University Observer while a student at UCD. Having joined SWI in 2015, Paul joined the committee in 2022 as Treasurer.

Domestic Affairs Officer

Paul O' Hehir is a former President of the Association, and also served as Vice President and Secretary.

He is the chief football writer for the Irish Daily Mirror, having joined the company in 2008. Before that he worked at The Irish Times for 10 years, covering all sports.

Noel Spillane

Press Officer

Noel is a long time member of Soccer Writers Ireland and has acted as Domestic Affairs Officer, looking after matters pertaining to the domestic game in Ireland, for a number of years. Noel is a former football reporter for the Irish Examiner and Cork Evening Echo, He still writes in a freelance capacity.
